Is it me or does PT sound....

MessageAuthor

Does PT sound a little soft to you guys? It seems to lack a bit of punch. I find the plugins are the same way. I've been trying to mix in PT but when I'm working on a rock project, I find it hard to get a punchy mix. It still sounds good and all, just not for everything. When I load up Nuendo, everything is fine. Nice and punchy! Maybe I'm just used to Nuendo. PT is diffinately the champ for tracking/editing. Is it just me??? How does Logic sound compared to PT???

No, I think you guys are missing my point. The tracks are recorded fine. Otherwise they wouldn't sound good in Nuendo either. My point is that maybe I'm missing out on some secrets of the Digi001. Maybe it's the plugins I'm using (Waves ren & Bombfactory). I have only owned my unit for 2 months. I'm still trying to feel it out. The more I think about it, it could diffinately be that I prefer the converters on the RME soundcard that I use for Nuendo. I never though about that. Though I'll tell you that the Waves Ren Compressor sounds different in Protools than the same plugin in Nuendo. Go figure???? Though, most things in the audio world are very subtle. Have a good session everyone!

Jay, I might get yelled at, but I agree. PTLE sounds a little dull to me. Don't overlook the wisdom of the Basstard. I'm not telling you to turn your monitors up(I monitor at about 80 db). I think you should hit PTLE as hard as you can going in. Ignore the red lights. I know that louder sounds have more bass and trebble, but that is NOT what I'm talking about. I actually think that things in PTLE can get a little muffled unless they're real hot. The master fader seems to make it worse. Cue the angry hearing impared saying "This has been discussed and it's not true"
